Sea for everyone: Burgas introduces an accessible environment with a European project
Burgas has taken an important step towards inclusion by installing two innovative electric mobile ramps at the North Beach and Kraimorie Beach. These facilities allow people with limited mobility to reach the seawater safely and independently.
"I hope this good example will inspire other beaches along the Black Sea," stated Mayor Dimitar Nikolov.
What does the "Blue Gates" project include?
- Electric ramps: Specialized platforms for easy entry into the sea.
- 20 lightweight wheelchairs: For moving across the sand with ease.
- Strategic location: The ramps are located near parking lots and wooden pathways for maximum convenience.
The investment was realized under the "Blue Gates" project, funded by the Interreg NEXT "Black Sea Basin" 2021-2027 program, in partnership with municipalities from Romania, Turkey, and Ukraine.
With this step, Burgas establishes itself as a leader in creating an accessible environment, turning European policies into real benefits for the city's citizens and guests.
