Burgas joins the 73rd International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria – an authoritative sporting event included in the official calendars of both the International Cycling Union and the Municipality of Burgas. A total of 17 teams, representing 11 different countries, will participate in this year's edition of the prestigious race. The city has been chosen as a key host for the sports forum, as it will welcome the finish of the first stage and the starting point of the second stage of the race.
The official start of the first stage is scheduled for August 29 (Saturday) in the town of Primorsko. The route that the cyclists will follow is set in the following order:
- Primorsko – Road I-9 – Road Junction "South" – Zahari Stoyanov Blvd. – Gorno Ezerovo district – Bratovo – Troyanovo – Aytos – Road I-6 – Vetren district – Stefan Stambolov Blvd. – San Stefano Blvd. – Hristo Botev St. – Tsar Petar St. – Aleksandrovska St.
According to the preliminary schedule, the cyclists are expected to pass through the "South" road junction at around 15:30. The entry of the sports column into the city of Burgas, passing through the "Vetren" district, is forecast for around 17:00, with the finish of the stage planned for 17:30 in front of the Burgas Municipality building.
On August 30 (Sunday) at 14:30, the start of the second stage of the tour will be given. The participants will depart from Atanas Sirekov Square and, passing through Stefan Stambolov Blvd., will head towards the city of Sliven.
In connection with the event taking place over both days – Saturday and Sunday – and to ensure complete safety for all participants and citizens, private vehicle traffic will be stopped in phases. Disruptions to the schedules of public transport bus lines serving the streets along the route are also expected.
