Burgas officially chosen to host Eurovision 2027

Burgas will host the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest next year. The organizers have officially confirmed the dates of the event: the two semi-finals will take place on May 11 and 13, and the final will be on May 15. The news was announced at a special press conference at the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).

"The choice of Burgas is the result of a careful evaluation of the proposals and the city's infrastructure capabilities," the organizers noted.

The selection process for the host

The competition to host was fierce, with Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna also included in the list of candidates. A working committee evaluated the bids, and the Director General of BNT, Milena Milotinova, expressed a desire to accelerate the procedure as early as June.

New EBU rules for 2027

The choice comes against the backdrop of changes to the EBU rules announced on August 12. According to them, the winner of the contest does not have an automatic right to host if the country is in a "state of armed conflict" or a "sensitive geopolitical situation".
