Burgas regional governor Diko Dikov and South Korea's ambassador to Bulgaria, Dong-bae Kim, discussed the new hospital in Tsarevo at a working meeting. The investment is worth €10m.

A representative of the investors said construction will start in January 2027 and finish in March 2028. The first patients will be admitted from the 2028 summer season.

The hospital will have about 60 patient rooms and 5,400 sq m of built-up floor space. The plot covers about 4,800 sq m.

It will create about 140 jobs for doctors and nurses. Construction will also provide extra work.

Dikov called the hospital "a key project for the region, which will give quick access to quality healthcare both for the local population and for thousands of tourists". He said the project matters for residents of the municipality, for health infrastructure and for security in the south of Burgas region.

"I welcome this project and support any cooperation that brings benefits and modernisation to our region," the regional governor added.

The two men also spoke about closer ties between the two countries, investment in the region, and big infrastructure and social projects.

The ambassador thanked Dikov for his hospitality and spirit of partnership. He confirmed South Korea's interest in wider economic, technology and cultural links with the Burgas area.

Also at the meeting were deputy regional governors Veselin Anestiev and Georgi Madzharov, South Korea's honorary consul in Burgas Yosif Spiridonov, Jun Kyu Han, chief financial officer of the Korean solar energy company SDN, and Seungeun Lee, an expert in the embassy's politics and economy section.

The regional administration says the meeting lays the ground for future exchange of experience in innovative health technology and in managing regional projects. Talks will go on, and both sides will look for joint initiatives in tourism, infrastructure, education, culture, sport and investment.
