The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has announced the upcoming release of a commemorative silver coin dedicated to a significant anniversary. Starting tomorrow, October 7th, collectors and the general public will have the opportunity to acquire this special edition, which marks 125 years since the establishment of Emergency Medical Services in Bulgaria.
The central bank announced the details about the coin. The price upon its release is set at 180 leva, equivalent to 92.03 euros. The commemorative coin has a face value of 10 leva and will be printed in a limited edition of 4,000 pieces, which emphasizes its collector's value.
The details of the craftsmanship are extremely precise. The coin is made of silver, with a fineness of 999/1000, and has a matte-gloss, superior quality. Its weight is 23.33 grams, and its diameter reaches 38.61 millimeters.
The design of the coin is rich in symbolism. On the obverse, in the center, on the left, the emblem of the BNB is depicted with the year "1879" on a ribbon. On the right, the number of the face value "10" is written. Above it is the year of the emission "2025", and below it – the inscription "LEVA". The inscriptions "BЪЛГАРСКА" – on top, and "НАРОДНА БАНКА" – below, are written around the edge.
The reverse side of the coin is dedicated to the celebrated anniversary. Between the years "1900" and "2025", hands forming a cross are depicted, symbolizing the humanity of the medical profession. The inscription "125 ГОДИНИ СПЕШНА МЕДИЦИНСКА ПОМОЩ В БЪЛГАРИЯ" is written around the edge.
The author of the artistic project is Svetlin Balezdr.ov.
Interest in the coin will undoubtedly be great, especially considering its limited availability. For all those wishing to own it, it will be offered at the Bulgarian National Bank, at two cash desks in Sofia, at pl. "Knyaz Alexander I" No. 1, and at four cash desks in the Cash Center of the BNB in Sofia, at ul. "Mihail Tenev" No. 10.
The BNB has introduced restrictions aimed at ensuring that as many collectors as possible can acquire the coin. Each client will be able to purchase only 1 coin. Purchasing on behalf of another person requires the presentation of a notarized power of attorney. Also, persons who have purchased a coin as individuals cannot purchase another as representatives of legal entities, and vice versa. The sale of coins to persons under 18 years of age is not permitted.
By the end of the working day on October 7, 2025, the new coin will be provided by the BNB to "Investbank" AD, "First Investment Bank" AD, "Texim Bank" AD, "Tokuda Bank" AD, and "Central Cooperative Bank" AD for sale in their offices and branches.
