The Holy Fire arrived in Bulgaria last night, the Bulgarian Patriarchate announced. A Bulgarian airline transported the fire from Bucharest to Timisoara, and then to "Vasil Levski" airport.
The fire, which was prayed for yesterday in Jerusalem, arrived in Bulgaria at 10:30 p.m. The Holy Fire will be delivered to the Synodal chapel, from where it will be brought in and handed over to the Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel before the Easter service. He will distribute it to all attending Orthodox Christians before the announcement of Christ's resurrection.
The clergy took the fire from the Synodal chapel "St. Tsar Boris-Michael" for the evening service on Holy Saturday, as the Holy Synod decided not to send a delegation to Jerusalem due to the situation in the Middle East.
The Holy Fire descended yesterday in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem at 2:13 p.m. local time (same as Bulgarian time).
