Sofia officially bids to host Eurovision 2027

The Metropolitan Municipality has taken a decisive step towards hosting one of the biggest musical events in the world. Mayor Vasil Terziev confirmed that Sofia has officially submitted its bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027.

"Sofia is ready to host the contest, but more importantly, it is for Bulgaria to present itself in the best possible way to the world," stated Mayor Vasil Terziev.

This move is part of the city's long-term strategy to establish itself as a leading European cultural center. The capital has a solid foundation, with experience from hosting the Junior Eurovision in 2015 and the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018.

Who are the main competitors?

The three cities have also submitted their proposals to the Bulgarian National Television (BNT). The final choice of host is expected to be announced by the end of July.

Preparation at the national level

The government has already adopted a special Action Plan for holding the contest. The organizing committee is actively working on the logistics and institutional framework to ensure the smooth running of the event, which will attract a multi-million international audience and significant economic interest in Bulgaria.
