Bulgarian firefighters on the front line in Spain
The Bulgarian ground forest firefighting module is actively assisting Spanish authorities in containing the critical situation in the country. The teams have joined the decisive battle against the fire in the area of the village of Toiriz, where the fire was directly threatening the homes of the local population.
"We are already seeing light at the end of the tunnel," said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez after a meeting of the crisis committee in Madrid.
Mission under the Civil Protection Mechanism
Our team was redeployed to the Kingdom of Spain under the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. The operation has become an example of international solidarity, with the Bulgarian firefighters demonstrating professionalism in containing the complex forest fires.
