The Ministry of Culture is preparing a large-scale international presentation that will showcase unique archaeological finds from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. A specially selected collection of seven artifacts from the "Ancient Nessebar" Museum will be exhibited at the UNESCO headquarters in the French capital.
The exceptional exhibition "Waves of the Black Sea Through the Millennia" will be accessible to visitors between July 6 and 16. Among the exhibits are two antefixes with images of Gorgon and a female head from the V-IV century BC, which demonstrate the exceptional artistic mastery of ancient civilizations.
The collection also includes a lekyt with the head of Dionysus from the II-I century BC, ceramic statuettes of a woman and Arsinoe III from the second century BC, as well as a remarkable Melian relief depicting a nereid on a hippocampus from the V century BC.
Additionally, the exhibition features interesting artifacts from the museums in Sozopol, Varna, and Balchik. A sgraffito decorated bowl from the XIII-XIV century completes the richness of the collection, which illustrates Bulgaria's centuries-old maritime history.
The organized exhibition is part of the targeted efforts of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture to promote national cultural heritage during the prestigious UNESCO international meeting.
