Bulgaria Concludes BSEC Presidency with Over 50 Initiatives

Bulgaria concluded its presidency of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) with over 50 initiatives. The final meeting took place on December 19, 2025, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova. The Bulgarian presidency emphasized regional cooperation, sustainability, and international partnerships.

Over 50 initiatives were carried out within the framework of the Bulgarian presidency, which was officially closed. On December 19, 2025, the final meeting of the format of the Committee of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was held, with which the Bulgarian Presidency of the Organization was officially closed. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting, which was held online, was chaired by Elena Shekerletova, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. In her welcoming speech, she highlighted the role of BSEC as an effective model for multilateral economic cooperation.

Deputy Minister Shekerletova stressed that during its presidency, Bulgaria has worked consistently and purposefully to deepen regional cooperation and collective commitment to the common challenges facing the wider Black Sea region, as well as for the successful implementation of the set priorities. She expressed her gratitude for the support of the BSEC member states and from the Secretary General of BSEC, Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, and wished success to Georgia, which will take over the rotating presidency of BSEC from January 1, 2026.

On July 14, 2025, the presidency of the Republic of Bulgaria of BSEC was officially opened. Under the motto “Collective commitment in the Black Sea region” the Bulgarian presidency is committed to promoting regional cooperation with a focus on sustainability, cultural integration and international partnerships.
