Bulgaria presents a national review of the UN on sustainable development in New York

Deputy Minister Nikolay Pavlov participated in an international UN forum, presenting Bulgaria's achievements in the field of sustainable development and regional cooperation.

An official delegation from the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Deputy Minister Nikolay Pavlov, actively participated in key international diplomatic events during the UN High-Level Political Forum in New York.

During the forum, Bulgaria presented its Second Voluntary National Review, which provided a detailed analysis of progress towards Sustainable Development Goals in the economic, social, and environmental spheres by 2030.

As part of the official program, Pavlov participated in a specialized event on "Demographic Diversity and Sustainable Development", jointly organized with the UN Population Fund. The forum drew attention from delegates from Qatar, Lesotho, Guatemala, and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with moderation entrusted to Executive Director Diene Keita.

Among the key moments was the presence of a special statement by the UN Secretary-General, dedicated to clean energy transition. In his speech, the leader emphasized the critical importance of energy security for global well-being and international stability.

During the interactive discussion on regional perspectives, Pavlov presented the priorities of Bulgaria's presidency in the Southeast European Cooperation Process. He highlighted the role of sustainable development in economic progress and regional connectivity.

In another important moment, the Deputy Minister participated in the Open Debate of the Security Council, dedicated to multilateralism. In his national statement, he emphasized the importance of prevention, mediation, and peaceful resolution of international disputes.

Parallel to the official program, several bilateral meetings were held with high-ranking international diplomats, including UN Deputy Secretary-General Li Junhua, Canadian representative Bob Ray, and Serbian Minister Tatyana Makura, who extended an invitation to Bulgaria to participate in a women's empowerment conference in September 2025.
