A New Stage in Bulgarian-Swiss Technological Cooperation
The expansion of Swiss investments in Bulgaria and partnership in innovation and science were highlights of the meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova and the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, Pierre Hagmann. The focus of the discussions fell on high technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and medicine.
"Digitalization and artificial intelligence can contribute to the development of the public sector, the improvement of services, and the building of more transparent institutions," stated Minister Petrova.
The success of INSAIT as a bridge between the countries
The Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology INSAIT was pointed out as a key example of knowledge transfer. It was established in close partnership with prestigious Swiss institutes:
- ETH Zurich
- EPFL Lausanne
Priorities under the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program
The parties confirmed their commitment to the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program, which covers 11 programs in five strategic areas:
- Healthcare and social systems
- Education and science
- Migration and security
- Environment and climate
Ambassador Hagmann emphasized that Bulgaria's progress toward OECD membership opens new doors for Swiss business, and the two parties expressed readiness to deepen the dialogue in the spheres of foreign policy and defense.
