In an official video conference, the chairmanship of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was opened, which launched a large-scale diplomatic and economic initiative for the period until the end of 2025.
The participants in the strategic meeting included the Committee of Senior Officials, related organizational structures, and the BSEC Secretariat. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took a leading position, taking over the leadership of the Business Council for the second half of the current year.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerlетova presented in detail the priority areas of the chairmanship, which cover a broad spectrum of regional challenges. Among the main focuses are sustainable management of marine ecosystems, promoting cultural and educational exchange, development of the tourism sector, and strengthening regional resilience.
The leading motto of the Bulgarian chairmanship – "Collective Engagement in the Black Sea Region" – underscores the desire to deepen international cooperation and achieve common strategic goals.
During the meeting, a detailed calendar with over 50 planned events and initiatives was finalized. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host a significant part of them, coinciding with its 130th anniversary.
Among the most anticipated events are a board of directors meeting of the Business Council, a specialized business event focused on the financial instruments of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, as well as participation of international partners in the prestigious Sofia International Money Expo conference in October.
Bulgaria's official chairmanship will continue until December 31, 2025, providing a unique opportunity to establish the country as a key regional factor in economic and diplomatic cooperation.
BSEC experts are looking forward to the implementation of the planned initiatives, which have the potential to strengthen interaction between Black Sea countries and create new opportunities for economic development.
