Bulgaria and Oman: A Diplomatic Bridge in the Era of Global Challenges

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Oman held official negotiations, outlining prospects for deepening bilateral relations in the political, economic, and cultural spheres, with emphasis placed on regional security and diplomatic cooperation.

During the official visit of the Omani Foreign Minister Said Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi to Sofia, key guidelines for future partnership between the two countries were outlined. Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georgi Georgiev welcomed the guest by emphasizing the importance of building international bridges in the context of contemporary geopolitical challenges.

The two diplomats focused their attention on the need to affirm regional stability, especially in the context of conflict zones in the Middle East and military actions in Ukraine. Georgiev emphasized the similarities between Bulgaria and Oman regarding balanced foreign policy and the pursuit of peaceful coexistence.

Among the main topics of discussions were opportunities for deepening diplomatic cooperation, including plans to open embassies in Muscat and Sofia. Minister Georgiev declared a clear commitment to expanding diplomatic presence between the two countries.

The Omani Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the hospitality and confidence that the meetings would reveal new horizons for interaction in economic, scientific, and cultural spheres. Both sides demonstrated readiness to deepen sectoral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Special attention was paid to the humanitarian case of Bulgarian citizens from the ship "Galaxy Leader", with the Bulgarian side expressing appreciation for the support from the Omani side in resolving the issue.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding in the energy sector was signed between Energy Ministers Zhecho Stankov and Said Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, which further reinforced the potential for bilateral cooperation.

The discussions also included perspectives for deepening the strategic dialogue between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council, with both sides demonstrating readiness to expand regional partnership.

The conversations took place in an extremely constructive spirit, with specific steps outlined for future rapprochement between Bulgaria and Oman in political, economic, and diplomatic dimensions.
