Diplomatic Meeting in Burgas: A Bridge to Namibia
The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, held a key meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia, Vasco Samupofu. The visit laid the foundations for future cooperation between the coastal city and the Namibian center of Swakopmund.
"The potential for partnership in the fields of education and business is enormous, as the new oil refinery in Swakopmund opens doors for training highly qualified personnel at our universities," emphasized Dimitar Nikolov.
Education as a Priority
Key highlights of the discussions included:
- Student exchange: Attracting young people from Namibia to study medicine, chemistry, and engineering sciences.
- Modern campus: Presentation of the large-scale project for a student campus in Burgas, which offers a European learning environment.
- Scholarships: Tools of the Municipality of Burgas for encouraging foreign students.
Industrial Cooperation and Logistics
The discussions also covered the need for personnel for large-scale industrial projects in Namibia. Both sides also discussed improving logistics links, including potential air routes to facilitate academic and business exchange.
A visit by a delegation from Swakopmund to Burgas is forthcoming, which will finalize plans for official twinning and a strategic partnership.
