The caretaker Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Hassan Ademov, stated that social assistance and food packages for vulnerable people will not be used to influence voters during the upcoming elections. He announced this in Burgas, where he held a working meeting.
Ademov emphasized that the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) will be directly involved in ensuring fair elections. “We will not allow the instruments of social policy to be used to manipulate the vote,” he added. He pointed out that the social assistance system has often been under pressure during pre-election periods, including through lists for social services.
The Minister assured that social payments are guaranteed, regardless of the adoption of the budget extension law. He confirmed the increase in pensions from July 1st by 7.8% and added that a five percent salary increase for certain categories of employees is already being paid.
Ademov also commented on the adopted changes in pension legislation, related to the so-called multi-fund system, stating that they will allow insured persons to choose the investment profile of their funds.
