The Internal Security Committee did not support reforms in the Ministry of Interior
The Parliamentary Committee on Internal Security and Public Order rejected the proposals for amendments to the Ministry of Interior Act, submitted by Bozhidar Bozhanov ("Democratic Bulgaria") and a group of members of parliament.
The idea of reducing the number of salaries paid upon leaving the Ministry of Interior for newly recruited employees did not gather the necessary support.
Dismissal of pensioners in the system
The bill provided for the Minister of Interior to receive the right and obligation to dismiss employees who have already acquired the right to a pension but continue to hold positions in the Ministry of Interior. According to data presented by Bozhanov, there are about 7,000 people working in the system who receive both a pension and a salary.
- Goal of the proposal: Phased dismissal of retired personnel.
- Motives: Increasing cost efficiency in the Ministry of Interior.
Despite arguments for the need for optimization and more effective spending of budget funds, the deputies voted against the proposed amendments.
