76 Fires in 24 Hours: Two Fatalities

76 fires were extinguished in the last 24 hours. Two people died – a 52-year-old woman in Sofia and an 83-year-old man in the Smolyan region. 23 fires with material damage were registered.

In the last 24 hours, 76 fires have been extinguished, the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" (GDPSPC) - Ministry of Interior announced. The information is as of 6:00 a.m. this morning.

Yesterday at 3:15 a.m. the Operational Center at the Sofia Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" (SDPSPC) received a report of a fire in an apartment in the Sofia neighborhood "Nadezhda" 1. A 52-year-old woman died in the fire.

Also yesterday at 12:56 p.m. the Operational Center at the Regional Service "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" (RDPSPC) - Smolyan received a report of a fire in a house in the village of Shiroka Laka, Smolyan municipality. An 83-year-old man died in the fire.

23 fires resulted in direct material damage, of which 10 were in residential buildings, one in industrial premises, and four in vehicles.

53 fires occurred without material damage, of which eight were in dry grass, forest litter and shrubs, 29 in waste, and 12 in cooking appliances and chimneys.

24 rescue operations and support operations were carried out. 

Six false calls were also registered.
