52 Fires Contained in Bulgaria within 24 Hours: Data from GDPS

The General Directorate "Fire Safety" reports 52 contained fires in Bulgaria. No injuries. 75 incident reports were received. 16 fires caused material damage. Additional rescue operations were carried out.

A total of 52 fires were brought under control in the country during the past 24 hours, according to data from the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" (GDPSPC). The institution reports that there were no injuries as a result of the incidents. The reports of incidents to which firefighters responded totaled 75. The data covers the period up to 6:00 AM this morning.

Among the fires, 16 of which caused direct material damage, five were registered in residential buildings. One of the cases was in an auxiliary, temporary or makeshift building, and seven fires occurred in vehicles and other facilities.

A larger number – 36 – fires did not lead to material losses. Nine of them occurred in dry grasses, forest litter and bushes. One fire engulfed stubble fields, and 23 – waste and other materials.

In addition to extinguishing the fire, firefighters participated in 17 rescue activities and support operations. One of these operations was related to a traffic accident in a vehicle (automobile). Another was during incidents involving dangerous substances. 15 cases were technical assistance.

The GDPSPC also reports six false calls.
