The jury in the retrial of Harvey Weinstein for sex crimes in New York will resume deliberations on Monday, after failing to reach a verdict last week after two days of discussions.
The panel of seven women and five men on Thursday began considering two charges of sexual assault and one charge of rape against the former film producer, who has pleaded not guilty.
On Friday, one of the jurors requested to be removed from the case, stating that other members of the jury were "unfairly and improperly" treating one of their colleagues. However, the judge ordered him to continue participating in the deliberations and rejected the defense's request for a mistrial on this issue.
Weinstein was initially convicted in New York in 2020 for rape and sexual assault against two women, which was seen as a key moment in the #MeToo movement. But that conviction was later overturned, leading to a retrial - with an added new accuser - before a new jury and a different judge.
