Experts from the national road agency report large-scale infrastructure improvements that will be carried out in a critical section of the highway. The activities are planned to be completed by June 30, and will include comprehensive road surface renovation.
Temporary traffic organization will be introduced in two stages. From June 27, 9:00 am to June 29, 9:00 am, initial interventions in the direction of Sofia will be undertaken. Drivers must be extremely careful, as specific restrictions will be introduced.
In the lane towards Sofia, differentiated traffic lanes will be created. Specifically, there will be one lane for traffic towards the capital, while simultaneously two lanes for vehicles will be created. A crucial condition is the prohibition of heavy trucks in the left lanes, which will be designated solely for passenger cars.
The second phase of repair activities will start on June 29 at 9:00 am and will cover the direction towards Burgas. Similar organizational measures will be introduced with differentiation of traffic flows.
In the lane towards the seaside city, there will be one traffic lane, with restrictions for heavy vehicles on the left again. Passenger cars will be able to pass without difficulties.
Representatives of the Road Infrastructure Agency apologize for potential inconveniences but emphasize the exceptional importance of repair activities for improving road safety and comfort.
Drivers should be extremely cautious, especially during the active summer season and periods of intense traffic. Advance trip planning and monitoring of current road conditions are recommended.
