A strategically important infrastructure project was officially launched in the Vidin region, which promises to transform transportation communication between two neighboring countries. The management of the Road Infrastructure Agency, represented by eng. Jordan Valchev, initiated a large-scale modernization of third-class road III-1102, connecting the municipalities of Dimovo and Belogradchik.
The new road section will pass through the picturesque land of Dimovo town, starting from second-class road II-11 and reaching the state border with the Republic of Serbia. The route is designed to directly serve the settlement of Salash and provide direct access to the future border checkpoint.
The technical project, originally developed in 2014, underwent necessary updates to meet modern road construction standards. The last four kilometers of the route have so far been without a permanent road surface, which complicates the local population's transportation.
The project implementation is entrusted to the consortium DZZD "NK-SALASH", composed of two construction companies - "NIVEL STROY" EOOD and "KARO TRADING" OOD. The total contract value amounts to 14,737,500 leva without value-added tax.
The project documentation provides for two main stages: an initial 60-day period for project update and a subsequent 12-month period for actual construction and installation activities. Independent construction supervision will be carried out by "IVT CONSULT" EOOD for a fee of 259,600 leva.
The innovative aspect of this project is its integrated territorial planning. The concept was developed jointly between the Road Infrastructure Agency and Belogradchik Municipality, applying for funding under the Regional Development Program 2021-2027.
The project successfully passed the initial administrative assessment phase and was ranked tenth in the Northwest region. With additional financial resources, there is a high probability of its full implementation.
Expectations are that the new road section will create better conditions for economic development, stimulate the region's tourism potential, and improve neighborly relations between Bulgaria and Serbia.
