The repair activities on the 320-meter section of the Danube Bridge near Ruse in the direction of Bulgaria continue to be carried out according to the preliminary schedule. During the last week, another 63 old road panels have been dismantled, and 27 new ones have been installed in their place, bringing the total number of replaced panels to 544 out of 128 in the section closed for repair.
Parallel to the replacement of the road panels, other repair activities are also being carried out on the site. Bolt anchors have been installed in an 80-meter section, and an anti-corrosion coating has been applied over 34 meters of the steel structure. Next week, the dismantling of drainage and the collection system, the replacement of reinforced concrete road panels, and the continuation of the preparation of the compromised surfaces for shotcreting are planned.
The works on the site are carried out daily during the daylight hours, with the traffic of vehicles being organized in both directions in the lane where no work is being done. The Road Infrastructure Agency calls on drivers to observe the speed limit of 20 km/h and not to pass with oversized vehicles, in order not to cause additional damage to the already repaired section.
Up-to-date information on the progress of the repair work can be found in the special section "Information about the repair of the Danube Bridge" on the website of the Road Infrastructure Agency. The Agency's team provides regular updates and is available for additional questions.
