The large-scale infrastructure project to renovate the Trakia Highway has reached its final phase. Experts from the Road Infrastructure Agency have successfully completed repair work in the section between the 241st and 251st km in the Sliven region, ensuring optimal travel conditions for the upcoming summer season.
The scope of reconstruction includes comprehensive road surface renewal, modernization of the drainage system, and improvement of road safety. Specialists performed a complete replacement of the asphalt surface, raised drainage grates, thoroughly cleaned collectors, and installed modern road markings and restraint systems.
The repair campaign covered extensive sections in four administrative regions - Sofia, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, and Sliven. In the Sofia region, 12 kilometers between the 11th and 23rd km towards Burgas were renovated. In the Pazardzhik region, both lanes between the 98th and 106th km were rehabilitated.
On June 3, the repair of both lanes in the section between the 106th and 119th km in the Plovdiv region was finalized. Installation of additional guardrails in the shoulder strip is pending, which will be done without disrupting traffic.
The Road Infrastructure Agency explicitly recommends that drivers drive with increased attention, adjusted speed, and strict adherence to road signage. During intense traffic, especially at the end of the work week, delays during peak hours are possible.
