The plane with 148 people on board, including 89 Bulgarian citizens and 59 citizens of other countries, successfully landed at "Vasil Levski" Airport in Sofia. The rescue operation was coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, in cooperation with international partners and institutions.
The flight was organized in response to the deteriorating situation in the region and was part of the active efforts of the Bulgarian state to ensure the safety of its citizens in crisis zones. Among the welcoming party at "Vasil Levski" Airport in Sofia was the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgi Georgiev, who personally greeted the returnees.
"This was an operation with a high degree of complexity, requiring a quick response, diplomatic coordination, and field work. I am proud of our teams and grateful to all the partners who helped make this happen safely and on time," said Minister Georgiev.
The evacuation was carried out with a specially chartered flight, with the citizens being transported by land from Israel to Egypt under enhanced security measures. Many of them expressed their gratitude for the care and assistance provided by the Bulgarian institutions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains ready to provide assistance to the remaining Bulgarian citizens in the region and continues to closely monitor the situation.
