The Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Tsvetan Simeonov, held a meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Mineral Waters in the Republic of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Geothermal Association, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Madanski from Sofia University, and Sergey Stoyanov - a member of the BCCI Board of Directors. The main topic of the discussion was the opportunities for more efficient utilization of mineral waters in the country, including through necessary legislative changes and solutions at the municipal and regional level.
The participants in the meeting acknowledged that Bulgaria is rich in mineral waters, but today only about 30% of the total resources are used effectively. The systematically missed benefits for the public, such as the use of mineral waters for heating kindergartens, schools, and homes for the elderly, were discussed.
Tsvetanka Lukarska, the Chairperson of the Chamber of Mineral Waters in Bulgaria, presented the activities planned by the Chamber for better and more efficient use of this natural resource. A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Chamber and the BCCI was also discussed.
The participants in the meeting also focused on the idea of launching a pilot project in a region where there is potential for the discovery of mineral waters. The town of Nikolaevo has been chosen as the location where a survey will begin in the coming weeks, which will give the region a chance to develop health and balneological tourism.
The meeting is a continuation of previous discussions and agreements between the BCCI and industry representatives. It is part of the Chamber's efforts to promote the more efficient use of natural resources in the country and the development of related economic activities.
