The automotive industry is one of the most developed in Bulgaria, with the sector increasing its core indicators - number of companies, employees, investment volume and R&D centers - tenfold. According to Deputy Minister Danovski, in order to continue the progress, the number of engineering and technical talents must increase by at least 10 times.
The government has a clear commitment to develop the personnel, innovation, and sustainability of the automotive sector. Over the past 20 years, around 2 billion BGN have been invested in the industry, supported by the state through various measures. The companies that have invested are around 60, and the jobs created are close to 20,000.
According to Danovski, technological leadership provides an opportunity for the automotive sector to support the development of other industries. A key factor for the development of the industry is technological transfer, for which the Ministry of Innovation and Growth has set specific goals by 2025. A measure to support technology transfer offices will be opened, as well as the creation of a Technology Transfer Fund and a Fund to support projects of doctoral students and students in this field.
