The Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Tsvetan Simeonov held a meeting with the newly appointed Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) Jochen Danninger. The meeting was also attended by the CEO of EVN Stefan Szyszkowicz and the Commercial Counselor at the Austrian Embassy in Sofia Philipp Kupfer.
The main topics discussed during the meeting were the competitiveness of the European economy, the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria, and energy policy. Simeonov explained in detail the attitudes of Bulgarian companies regarding the introduction of the single European currency, sharing that the concerns are unfounded, as the country already has experience from 1997 with the denomination of the Bulgarian lev. He assured that both citizens and banks will successfully manage the conversion of levs into euros, as companies are already taking the necessary steps.
Particular attention was also paid to the topic of energy policies in Europe and Bulgaria. It was agreed that the traditionally good cooperation between BCCI and WKO will continue on a bilateral as well as multilateral basis within the framework of Eurochambres.
Jochen Danninger's meetings in Bulgaria continued with participation in a meeting of the EVN management and visits in the country.
