A pink-hued salt lake and nature reserve with rich biodiversity and healing mud at the northern edge of Burgas.

Atanasovsko Lake is a true natural gem situated at the threshold of Burgas. It is one of the few places in Europe where the water acquires a magical pink hue thanks to specific microorganisms living in the saline environment. Reflecting the sky above, the rosy surface creates a surrealistic landscape that seems to belong to another planet.

The lake represents a unique ecosystem and is part of the Natura 2000 network. It hosts over 300 bird species – a colorful flock of pink flamingos, pelicans, herons and many rare species that gather here during their migratory path. This is Bulgaria's richest territory in terms of bird diversity, a genuine paradise for ornithologists and photographers.

The salt crystals that have been harvested here for centuries using traditional methods create a mosaic of white 'pyramids' contrasting with the pink water. The lake's healing mud attracts people from near and far, seeking relief for various health issues.

Visiting the wooden walkways and observation towers allows you to immerse yourself in this symphony of colors, sounds, and aromas. Particularly impressive are the sunrises and sunsets when light dances across the water's surface, and the silhouettes of birds are outlined against the flaming sky.
