Established in 1912, the Regional Historical Museum of Burgas is the largest cultural and historical institution in Southeastern Bulgaria, preserving the rich archaeological and ethnographic legacy of the region.

The Regional Historical Museum of Burgas stands as a major cultural and research center in Southeastern Bulgaria. Founded in 1912 by a group of local intellectuals and history enthusiasts, it initially operated as a private museum under the Burgas Archaeological Society “Debelt”. Its mission has always been to research, preserve, and present the historical wealth of the Burgas region. The first chairman of the society was the regional governor at the time, Hristo Bogoev, while the museum’s first director was Pavel Vodenicharov – a passionate scholar dedicated to the region’s cultural memory. Today, the museum features multiple exhibition halls and departments that showcase the region's development from antiquity to modern times, attracting thousands of visitors annually.
