Patients in two Burgas hospitals, Life Hospital and Dr Madzhurov, will not be able to vote in the presidential election after the regional election commission closed the polling stations there.

One station in each hospital has been shut. The commission cited a letter from Burgas council, which came with a council order dated 19 October.

The order gives as the reason that "the legal conditions for setting them up are not met".

Under the Electoral Code, a polling station can be set up in a hospital, care home, prison or on a Bulgarian ship at sea if at least 10 voters are there.

The decision can be appealed to the Central Election Commission within three days of its announcement.
