The Ministry of Interior noted a tangible progress in road safety through innovative approaches to control and prevention. A key element in this strategy is the National Coordination Center, which has been functioning since 2019 and unites the efforts of various institutional structures.
Interior Minister Daniel Mitov emphasized the critical necessity for systematic actions against irresponsible driving. According to him, the political vacuum that existed before this center had hindered the effective management of road safety.
Experts introduced large-scale organizational changes, including expanding police presence. Besides traditional road police, control activities now include gendarmerie, border police, criminal and security officers.
Statistical data confirm the positive trend - compared to the previous year, incidents have decreased by 211, and the number of victims has been reduced by 7. Compared to 2023, the reduction in casualties reaches an impressive 48 people.
Minister Ivan Ivanov emphasized the strategic goal of centralizing processes for prevention and limitation of road injuries. He expressed confidence that the undertaken measures will lead to significant improvements in the short term.
Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov from "Road Police" explained the functional characteristics of the center. The system provides comprehensive monitoring through integrated communication between various control bodies, including the national TOLL management.
A key point in the new approach is the technological connectivity of systems and the ability to respond quickly in case of incidents. Employees have mechanisms for immediate coordination and taking adequate actions.
The government demonstrates a categorical will for radical change in road safety management. Through innovative organizational solutions and enhanced institutional control, the aim is to sustainably improve road culture and reduce the risk of traffic accidents.
