The prestigious cultural institution opens a large-scale visual narrative about fashion transformation, covering a period of one century. The exhibition "Fashion - in the Mirror of a Century 1850 - 1950" offers an in-depth look at clothing as a social and aesthetic phenomenon.
Curated by Adriana Popova, chief expert at the State Archives Agency, the exhibition presents a rich collection of photographic materials. The artistic design is the work of Iva Velinova, who has masterfully arranged the visual space.
The exhibition covers various clothing categories - from women's and men's outfits to children's costumes. Special attention is paid to wedding attire, court dresses, various accessories, uniforms, and carnival costumes that illustrate the aesthetic norms of the era.
The leading concept of the exhibition emphasizes the philosophy of "slow fashion" - a counterpoint to contemporary rapid consumption. The presented clothing is made from high-quality materials with an idea of durability and aesthetic value, in contrast to today's disposable collections.
The museum installation recreates an authentic interior from the urban life of Burgas from the early 20th century, which further enriches the visual perception. The exhibition traces not just fashion trends, but the sociocultural evolution of clothing.
Visitors can immerse themselves in this unique time slice every day from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Historical Museum located at 31 Lermontov Street. Entry is free, and the exhibition promises an exciting journey through the fashion transformations of a remarkable century.
