The eighth edition of the Young Arts Festival will conclude on October 17 with poetic works created by young authors over recent months. The event is taking place from October 12 to 17, organized by the Burgas Municipality and the city branch of the National Academy of Arts.

A hallmark of the festival is the installations created by students alongside their professors. These will be exhibited on the final day, October 17, which will also feature a literary matinée. The matinée program will begin at 11:00 AM in one of the halls of the "DAS Marina" Hotel, a long-standing partner of the event.

This year, the festival's concept has been refreshed with the subtheme "The Eurovision Emotion in Burgas," with the main challenge directed toward creators in the field of visual arts. Nevertheless, the eighth edition will once again include students and pupils showcasing diverse talents in music, film, literature, and fine arts.

The literary component will be implemented through a competition. Participation is open to secondary school students in Burgas, university students, those from the city's arts branches, and other young people up to the age of 25. Works can be submitted via email to [email protected] no later than October 12. Participants may submit:

  • up to three poetic works;
  • 1 short story with a maximum length of 3 printed pages (Times New Roman, size 12 format).

There are no thematic restrictions on the submissions, though authors are encouraged to draw inspiration from the upcoming hosting of the major musical event.

Approved authors will participate in a special creative writing workshop led by poet Lyubov Djungurova. They will have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with artists to achieve a synthesis between the two art forms—a concept introduced in last year's edition. As part of this collaboration, creators will suggest titles for paintings or write texts based on selected artworks; where possible, phrases from their texts will be woven directly into parts of the paintings.
