The Minister of Economy and Industry Petăr Dilov held a meeting with the Vice-President of the European Commission Teresa Ribera to discuss the development of the National Industrial Strategy. The document will be prepared with the financial support of the EU and will have a horizon until 2030.
During the Green Transition Forum 5.0 in Sofia, Minister Dilov emphasized that the Bulgarian industry has significant advantages in sectors such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, metallurgy and automotive, which ensure its competitiveness at a regional and global level. However, to maintain this competitiveness, additional efforts are needed to increase energy and resource efficiency, modernize infrastructure, implement new technologies and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
The Minister stressed that green technologies and decarbonization should not be seen as an obstacle, but as a driver for growth, if applied with a clear vision and strategic approach. Bulgarian companies investing in sustainability will be more competitive on the European and global market.
According to Minister Dilov, strategic planning, significant investments and close cooperation between business and the state are key to achieving these goals. Access to raw materials, technologies and energy is essential, which requires the development of own capacities and active participation in European initiatives.
