Households that buy power from Bulgaria's last-resort suppliers will get compensation of €24.41 to €85.44 per megawatt hour, excluding VAT, for September 2026. The amount depends on the company, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) said. The sum has already been taken off bills.

The compensation covers 1 to 30 September. Customers of Elektrohold Prodazhbi get €24.41 per megawatt hour, while those of EVN Bulgaria Elektrosnabdyavane and ENERGO-PRO Prodazhbi get €24.56 each. The highest payment, €85.44, goes to customers of ESP Zlatni Pyasatsi.

The reason is that in September the companies paid more for power on the market than the annual base price. That price is €74.54 per megawatt hour, excluding VAT. KEVR set it in a decision that has been in force since 1 July 2026.

The money for each supplier comes from the Electricity System Security Fund. The support scheme for households was introduced through changes to the Energy Act.

The market price of the power the companies bought was also above the base price in July, BTA reminds readers.
