A large-scale project for social integration of refugees was officially presented by Caritas Sofia together with leading international organizations. The initiative, launched in June 2025, covers nearly 500 people from different age groups who will undergo specialized training.
The innovative methodology includes a multi-component approach to adaptation. Through interactive language sessions, World Café-style workshops, and urban expeditions, participants acquire practical skills for communication and social interaction. A key element is the mentorship program, which connects volunteer refugees with new arrivals.
Special attention is paid to family integration. Parallel to the main program, additional services are provided for children, including preschool preparation and educational activities. This significantly eases the adaptation process for the entire family.
Experts from Caritas Sofia and their partners from Catholic Relief Services and UNHCR report exceptional effectiveness of the model. Results are particularly positive for women, who traditionally face more challenges in social integration.
The project continues to attract support from local institutions, non-governmental organizations, and employers, which guarantees its sustainability and future development.
