German Chancellor Friedrich Merz accused Russia of massive cyberattacks and destabilization, declaring a de facto conflict.

Germany declares a practical conflict with Russia

Germany is entering a _practical conflict_ with Russia, announced Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In a dramatic statement that calls into question long-standing diplomatic relations, the chancellor directly accused Moscow of conducting massive, systematic attacks against the German state.

The statement was made in Toulon, where the chancellor met with French President Emmanuel Macron, and Merz's shocking words echoed loudly in political circles. Speaking to French television channel LCI, Chancellor Merz painted a bleak picture of escalating tensions. He emphasized that Russia is conducting daily, destructive campaigns, using cyberattacks against key infrastructure and targeted information influence through social media. This strategy, he said, is aimed at destabilizing Germany's society and state institutions.

"Putin is destabilizing a large part of our country. He is interfering everywhere. That is why we are now in conflict with Russia", Merz stated, uttering words that mark a significant shift in the official German position. The chancellor stressed that Russian aggression far exceeds traditional territorial disputes and is becoming a broad challenge to the very international legal order established after World War II. He expressed deep concern that Vladimir Putin no longer respects any of the existing international treaties and agreements.

Chancellor Merz warned that the international community is entering a new, dangerous era in which even leading world leaders no longer adhere to generally accepted norms and rules. He broadened his analysis, pointing out that this trend is not limited to Moscow. "We are entering a new world where leaders are no longer willing to abide by the generally accepted rules of international law. This does not only apply to Putin but also to Xi Jinping and North Korea", the German chancellor added.
