The tenth anniversary edition of the Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) demonstrates exceptional social sensitivity towards an audience with communication challenges. The organizers are introducing an innovative initiative that expands the film experience for people with hearing impairments through SDH subtitles.
The special selection will offer a comprehensive perception of film content, ensuring maximum accessibility. The screenings are completely free, and qualified volunteers will assist visitors during the festival.
The event will take place from July 12 to 18, 2025, in various locations in Burgas. The key screenings with SDH subtitles are planned for July 14 at the NHK Cultural Center, including two main segments: International Short Film Competition and the "Plankton" program.
The festival is realized with the assistance of the Burgas Municipality and follows its consistent mission to create an inclusive cultural space. The specific program includes the following special screenings:
• July 14, 6:30 PM - International Short Film Competition
• July 14, 9:30 PM - "Plankton" Program
• July 16, 6:00 PM - International Short Film Competition
• July 16, 4:00 PM - "Plankton" Program
The initiative underscores the organizers' commitment to the principles of equality and accessibility in contemporary cultural space.
