Prof. Stanislav Pamukchiev's exhibition "Variable Season" will open its doors at the "Prolet" Gallery in Burgas on September 24. The gallery reports that this new series of abstract-landscape and figurative works was created specifically for its space.

Among the titles of the works in the exposition are "Dry Season", "Cooling", "Warm Wind", "Blue Evening", "Breeze, It Is Quiet", "Red Cloud", "On the Water", and "Shadow of a Cloud". In the text accompanying the exhibition, Prof. Pamukchiev writes that these titles point toward natural states but transform them into a poetic-metaphorical expression of emotional and spiritual movements.

The artist explains that in this new series, the initial landscape motif is heavily transformed and abstracted, gradually acquiring an independent plastic existence. According to him, water, sky, wind, shores, evaporation, clouds, and rain blur in constant motion, losing their concrete outlines to become light and atmosphere.

The author defines these so-called "landscapes" more as "views of the soul." Through them, he says, he seeks a plastic expression of the transitions between light and dark, dense and transparent, the nameable and the unnameable, the finite and the infinite.

At the center of the exposition are two self-portraits, through which the emotional states accompanying the creative process are personalized. Among the works is the composition "In the Studio," which Pamukchiev describes as "immersing oneself in the dramatic collision of artistic exaltation."

In his text, the artist further writes: "The exhibition seeks to lead us along the shore of the known and the unknown, and to meet poetic melancholy with the horizon of spiritual expectation. 'Variable Season' invites the viewer to follow the play of constant transformations, to dissolve into the plastic pulsations—an expression of eternal movement as a primal condition."

Stanislav Pamukchiev was born in 1953 in Sofia. In 1979, he graduated with a degree in "Mural Painting" from the National Academy of Arts, where he later became a professor. He is the author of over 90 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, and participates in international forums, biennials, and contemporary art festivals in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America.

The artist's works are part of the collections of the National Gallery and the Sofia City Art Gallery, as well as various institutions and private collections in Bulgaria and abroad. These include the European Parliament in Brussels, the National Gallery in Prague, the Ludwig Museum in Germany, and the Benetton collection in Italy.

Pamukchiev holds numerous national and international awards. In 1996, he won the Grand Prize at the International Triennial of Painting in Sofia, and he is a recipient of the "Zahari Zograf" National Painting Award and the "Vladimir Dimitrov – The Master" National Painting Award. In 2016, he was honored with the Order of Saints Cyril and Methodius, 1st Class. The artist also holds the "Golden Age" award from the Ministry of Culture and the "St. Pimen Zografski" Honorary Sign from the National Academy of Arts.

The exhibition "Variable Season" can be viewed at the "Prolet" Gallery in Burgas until October 24.
