Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov announced that the government is resigning. This is happening against the backdrop of an upcoming vote of no confidence. Zhelyazkov emphasized that the decisions of the National Assembly make sense when they reflect the will of the sovereign and that power comes from the citizens.

According to him, the protests are about values and behavior, not social issues. He stressed that civic energy should be encouraged. Zhelyazkov called on citizens to elect their formal leaders.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government's priorities, including Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone and macroeconomic stability. He stated that the government will implement the budget framework for 2025 and proposed a social protection budget for 2026, envisaging an increase in purchasing power.

Zhelyazkov shared that a great challenge is ahead and stressed that the government will not allow the country to be led down a peaceful path, but the citizens seem to be leaving it on the back burner.

He noted that the protests should show what the profile of the government should be after the 2026 elections, calling on the protest leaders to state their vision for the turbulent months. If the parliament does not adopt the budget by the end of the month, an extension budget will be submitted.
