MP Activity and Parliamentary Oversight
During the first session of the 52nd National Assembly, parliamentary activity was focused on increased oversight of the executive branch. A total of 765 questions and 10 interpellations were addressed to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, with parliamentary oversight taking up nearly 38 hours.
For the period from April 30 to July 31, the Parliament held 39 sessions, laying the foundations for key legislative changes.
Legislative Activity and Important Decisions
MPs adopted 28 laws and 89 decisions, including:
- The 2026 State Budget Act and the budgets of the NHIF and the State Social Security.
- The Anti-Corruption Act.
- Amendments to the Electoral Code and the Judiciary Act.
- Legislative acts in the field of competition and consumer protection.
Key Personnel and Organizational Decisions
Parliament elected a new Council of Ministers led by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, as well as heads of key agencies. Other important highlights of the National Assembly's work included:
- Scheduling presidential elections for October 25, 2026.
- Assigning audits by the National Audit Office on public finance management for recent years.
- The opening of a branch of the "Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov" University in the city of Dobrich.
Following this intensive work, the National Assembly went on summer recess until August 26, when the new plenary session will commence.
