It's not time for elections. This was categorically stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a meeting of the Executive Commission of GERB. The meeting was attended by regional coordinators of the party, ministers, members of parliament and mayors. The atmosphere, as could be expected, was tense.

"At the beginning of the new political season, coalitions that had declared their European solidarity with the cabinet joined the general chorus of the desire to destabilize the political situation in the country," the Prime Minister noted. According to Zhelyazkov, it is easy for the leading political force to raise the question of possible elections. "Because the party instinct could lead us in this direction." Nevertheless, the party's position remains firm. "Our answer - no, it is not time for elections, because if the political decision is in this direction - this means elections in February. At the beginning of a challenging year, in which year, in addition to budget challenges, in addition to the challenges related to the introduction of the euro, in an uncertain geopolitical environment, in a Bulgarian society poisoned by political suggestive influence, holding elections will in no way contribute to the building of a stable social peace."

The atmosphere in the hall was noticeably electrified, as if the heavy political problems were weighing in the air.

"GERB bears the responsibility, and bears the loss of trust, especially in key areas where the making of political decisions is received ambiguously," Zhelyazkov added.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister emphasized that the elections in Pazardzhik are "the litmus test for the fact that the coalition needs a serious conversation."

In conclusion, Zhelyazkov expressed his gratitude to BSP for "their willingness to be responsible and political."

Boyko Borisov, chairman of GERB, also addressed the issue. "The party does not want elections," he stressed. Regarding responsibility, Borisov pointed out that the party had acted responsibly within its mandate. "We acted responsibly within our mandate and formed a government in the framework of 7-8 elections. This is the fifth one we are assembling. And each one is more and more complex. The assembly was one of the most complex and then we were sufficient with PP and DB."
