Tomorrow, a yellow code for snowfall has been issued for 13 regions in Central and Eastern Bulgaria and the Rhodope Mountains. The Road Infrastructure Agency (API) warns drivers to set off in vehicles prepared for winter conditions. The road agency adds that there will be conditions for blizzards and the formation of snowdrifts and drifts.

Regional road administrations are monitoring weather forecasts and are ready to take the necessary actions to treat road surfaces. The priority is motorways, the busiest routes on the first and second class road network, and the passes, providing links between Northern and Southern Bulgaria.

To increase safety and if necessary, it is possible to close individual sections for treatment of the routes. Where it is necessary due to strong winds, snowdrifts or poor visibility, traffic may be temporarily restricted until meteorological conditions improve and the road is cleared.

It is necessary for drivers to drive with increased caution and appropriate speed, keeping their distance, not making sudden maneuvers, and not overtaking specialized vehicles that are treating road surfaces. Blocking traffic by vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions hinders the journey of all other drivers and the work of snow-clearing equipment.
