The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a yellow code warning for low temperatures for 18 regions of the country. The warning applies to Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pernik, Pleven, Razgrad, Ruse, Silistra, Sofia-city and Sofia-region, Targovishte, and Shumen.

Two very cold mornings are expected. In the mountains, the low temperatures in combination with the wind will create conditions for rapid freezing, NIMH pointed out. In the high parts of Rila and Pirin, the wind chill temperatures will be between minus 35 and minus 47 degrees.

A green code has been issued for the remaining regions (Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Kardzhali, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Sliven, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, and Yambol).
