Yellow code for hazardous phenomena in Eastern Bulgaria
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a yellow-level warning for significant rainfall for today, July 13. The warning is in effect mainly for parts of the Varna and Dobrich districts, where intense meteorological phenomena are expected.
The rainfall will be most intense in the northeastern regions, and there is also a serious risk of hail.
What to expect from the weather?
The synoptic situation in the country remains dynamic:
- Western Bulgaria: The day will begin with mostly sunny weather.
- Eastern Bulgaria, central and mountainous regions: In the afternoon, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop. Short-term rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected.
- Wind and temperatures: A moderate to strong northwest wind will blow. Temperatures will range from 26° to 31°, with around 26° expected in Sofia.
Towards the end of the day, cloud cover across the entire country is expected to break and the weather will clear up. There are no warnings for hazardous meteorological phenomena issued for the rest of Bulgaria.
