The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is taking an innovative approach to inform elderly people about their health insurance rights through direct educational discussions in social institutions.

The specialized information initiative aims to thoroughly familiarize elderly residents of homes with their medical opportunities and protection. The expert meetings are focused on detailed explanation of available health services, including outpatient and dental care, mechanisms for obtaining medical aids, and the obligations of personal physicians.

A key element of the campaign is the presentation of the mobile application "eHealth". Employees from "Information Services" AD directly assist elderly people with registration and familiarization with electronic health services. In parallel, an explanatory activity is conducted regarding the risks of potential phishing fraud, with specific practical advice on recognizing false communications.

The pilot project starts in Sofia's homes for the elderly, with meetings conducted in an extremely accessible and interactive format. Specialists encourage direct dialogue, active sharing, and questions from participants.

In its expanded plan, the initiative provides for an autumn cycle of information meetings with students, dedicated to prevention and medical assistance during travel. The "NHIF for You" campaign has already reported significant success - over 15,000 Bulgarian citizens have gained access to their electronic health record in July.

The project demonstrates targeted efforts by health institutions to increase digital and health literacy among different age groups through direct, personalized communication.
