Increased checks during high school graduation balls
"Traffic Police" has announced the introduction of strict safety measures in connection with the upcoming graduation balls and the May 24th celebrations. The goal is to prevent road accidents and ensure the peaceful course of the holidays.
"During the celebrations, there will be increased police control for alcohol and drug use, as well as strict monitoring for risky behavior on the road," the institution stated.
Alarming data on young drivers
Chief Inspector Lachezar Bliznakov from "Traffic Police" presented alarming statistics for 2025:
- 883 severe accidents were caused by drivers with less than 2 years of experience.
- This represents 13% of all road traffic accidents involving injuries and fatalities.
- Out of a total of 916 young drivers involved in these accidents, only 180 have no previous violations.
- A case of a driver with only two years of experience who has accumulated a record of 61 violations has been registered.

Law enforcement authorities are calling for responsible behavior. The increased presence of patrols will focus on:
- Checks for the use of alcohol and intoxicating substances.
- Speed control in urban and extra-urban conditions.
- Compliance with the rules when transporting graduates in cars.
