The remuneration for night work will be recalculated in euros from January 1, 2026. This is provided for in amendments to the Regulation on the structure and organization of wages, which were approved by the caretaker government. The amendments are related to the synchronization of the normative act with the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in Bulgaria and the introduction of the single European currency in our country, the government press service announced.
In the current provisions of the Regulation, it is regulated that the remuneration for each worked night hour or part of it between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. is not less than 0.15 percent of the minimum wage, but not less than one lev.
The remuneration for educational and scientific degree "Doctor" or for scientific degree "Doctor of Sciences" will also be recalculated in euros. The remuneration for the time during which the worker or employee is at the disposal of the employer, but is outside the territory of the enterprise, will also be converted.
Bulgaria will officially adopt the euro and will be the 21st member of the Eurozone from January 1, 2026. BTA recalls that the EU Council voted unanimously on the latest decisions related to the adoption of the euro in our country, completing the procedure. One of the three legal acts adopted today by the ministers determines the exchange rate lev-euro at 1.95583 leva per 1 euro, which corresponds to the current central rate of the lev in the currency board.
Prior to this, the European Parliament approved with a large majority the report on the introduction of the single European currency by Bulgaria. This happened with 531 votes "for", 69 "against" and 79 "abstentions".
