Varna, Bulgaria - A message appeared on the social media profile of the arrested mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, which caused alarm and concern. The post reported a threat to the lives of his family members.
According to the publication, the reason for the threat was a package delivered to the family restaurant. It was addressed to Kotsev's sister, Bilyana, and contained boxes of cigars. The inscription on the boxes read: "Quit smoking - stay alive for your loved ones". The atmosphere in the restaurant, where the package was delivered, was probably tense, and the employees were visibly worried about the unusual content.
The social media post continues with details of the incident: "He left it as a minor in the form of 4 boxes of cigars with the same inscription. He explained to an employee that the package was for Bilyana, Blago's sister. However, she doesn't smoke cigars. According to experts, this is a threat to life. Should we stay alive, or should Blago stay alive".
As a result of the incident, after consulting with a lawyer, a report was filed with the police. A pre-trial investigation was launched for threats of murder, and the perpetrator is being sought. Undoubtedly, the incident has caused serious concerns for the safety of Kotsev's family.
The publication emphasizes that the threat to life is not accidental and was made in a specific context. The focus is on the symbolism of the inscription on the cigars and its connection to legal warnings about the risks of smoking. "14 warning inscriptions about the risks of smoking are formulated in the law. Only one of them contains these words - "stay alive." These 4 boxes of cigars are as many as we, the adults of the family, are. They are also as many as the children in the family. The package arrives days after known events and days before other, upcoming, important events. Perhaps that is why the criminal mind that created this message is so inventive", the post says.
The prosecutor's office announced that recordings from the security video cameras in the restaurant are being analyzed. The hope is that this will contribute to the quick identification of the perpetrator. The boy who delivered the boxes of cigars has not yet been found, which reinforces the tension and uncertainty.
